Thanks Mrs. Tara for my cute birthday shirt! Thanks GDad for Jay's new lion shirt (Jay's two favorite Lassie episodes-currently-involve a lion and a tiger. SO he is ALL ABOUT lions and tigers!)
It turned out to be a beautiful day! Thank goodness! Here is a visual of what our living room would look like if it was raining!
My mom is incredibly crafty. She made me this dollhouse when I was little out of a wooden cabinet. I am kicking myself for not taking a "before" picture (it was really cute...she had used wallpaper from different rooms in our real house so it was truly a miniature house just like ours) It had just gotten a little worn from years of play so I renovated it. (It also has doors so you can close it all up.)
I used scrapbooking paper, paint from rooms in our house (except for the pink-it was craft paint) and collage pauge. Most of the furniture given at the party were Plan Toys. We LOVE them. Simple, wooden and great for little imaginations.
Since Betsy's birthday is in March, there is very little blooming. With help from my mom and dad, we had a craft project and made our own flowers. Thanks Darby and Martha for the idea and directions!
When Missy and I were in New York last spring we saw colorful paper lanterns hung for a birthday party in a quaint park in Greenwich Village. I LOVED the idea and couldn't WAIT to recreate it! The tissue pom-poms were perfect (and much cheaper than paper lanterns)!
I was REALLY excited about my party favors! As shown above, I ordered little dolls for everyone from http://www.raptorbaby.etsy.com/. Lauren, at raptorbaby, was AWESOME! I will definitely order from her again! I gave hair and eye color to her for all the kids and she used her own creativity from there. I also requested Ruth Ann and Claire to have their signature BIG bows! The kids loved them and I spotted them in little hands (girls AND boys) all day!
Brantley made another beautiful cake! It was fab-u-lous! A precious dollhouse.
Proof that it tasted just as good as it looked!
Further proof (hours later)...
We balanced out the sweets with lots of fruit. Doesn't fruit look SO much more delicious as a rainbow?! I saw this in my Family Fun magazine-LOVE the ideas in this magazine! I'm doing their rainbow cupcakes for Betsy's school class Monday.
What a beautiful day with family and friends! Lots of smiles and fun! What more could a two year old wish for?! I'll leave you with this sweet smile from Ruth Ann!
