The footage from Haiti is very disturbing. Natural disasters are so scary because they can happen anywhere and you have little to no control over them. South Carolina has had earthquakes in its history and will, no doubt, tremble again one day. So many miles away from Haiti I can only pray for those who offer relief and those who are missing loved ones.
My Sunday school lessons have been based on the book Calm My Anxious Heart. It is about learning to be content with yourself, your life, your circumstances and giving control over to God. When disasters like this happen, contentment doesn't seem so difficult. How blessed are we to have just the basic things like water, food, shelter and the peace of knowing that all of our loved ones are safely in their beds tonight?
